UAA College of Business and Public Policy (CBPP) to host 2025 Showcase: Shaping Alaska’s Economic Future
Anchorage, Alaska – September 25, 2025 - The University of Alaska Anchorage’s College of Business and Public Policy (CBPP) will host its fourth annual CBPP Showcase on Friday, Oct. 3, 2025, at Edward & Cathryn Rasmuson Hall on UAA’s campus.
Doors open at 4:30 p.m., with programming from 5–7:30 p.m. This event invites Alaskans to join thought leaders, entrepreneurs, community members and industry voices for an evening of bold ideas, collaboration and celebration of Alaska’s resilient future.
Last year’s Showcase welcomed over 450 guests. The 2025 event promises to be even bigger, continuing to spark conversations vital to Alaska’s long-term economic growth.
Spotlight on Alaska’s future
The CBPP Showcase highlights Alaska’s greatest resource — its people. Through a dynamic lineup of thought-provoking panel discussions, the event will explore sustainable, innovative and practical pathways for prosperity. The evening’s panel discussion sessions will tackle pressing questions such as why investing in Alaska’s future matters, what Alaskans have built to care for the state and how communities are managing natural resources responsibly. Additional panel discussion sessions will look ahead to the future of Alaska’s economy, envision what a truly vibrant Alaska could look like and examine what innovation means in a uniquely Alaskan context.
“Alaska has not faced opportunity or uncertainty like what we’re experiencing since the pipeline days. This event is part of an important discussion around how the state can support a prosperous and sustainable Alaska economy that fits our state’s character while also protecting the Alaskan lifestyle that makes this community so distinct,” said Kevin Berry Ph.D., professor of economics at UAA.
“The CBPP Showcase is about more than ideas — it’s about building partnerships that will carry Alaska forward. By convening leaders across industries and communities, we’re creating the space for innovation and collaboration that strengthens our state,” said Terry Nelson, Ph.D., professor of leadership and CBPP interim dean.
Community leaders are also lending their voices to the conversation, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in shaping Alaska’s future. “Events like this highlight the talent, innovation and resilience of Alaskans. When we come together, we can define and deliver a prosperous future,” said David Karp, Senior VP and managing director for Saltchuk Alaska. Echoing this sentiment, Natasha Von Imhof, former Alaska state senator added, “A thriving economy requires partnership between business, community and education. The Showcase demonstrates how Alaskans can work together to ensure long-term prosperity.”
Investing in the next generation
This year’s Showcase will also serve as a moment to invest in the future — by raising money for the CBPP Dean’s Excellence Fund. Funds raised will directly support CBPP students with access to scholarships, research opportunities and career-building experiences that prepare them to lead Alaska forward. Every dollar raised fuels education that benefits not just students, but the communities and economy they will strengthen.
Join us in celebrating innovation, leadership and community. Because Alaska doesn’t just keep up — we do it better. Tickets are on sale now.
